BOLEYN
TAVERN
Clark Architecture is proud to be Project Lead on the total refurbishment of the historic grade 2 listed Boleyn Tavern.
We are excited about working with extraordinary specialist techniques again, restoring and reviving this fine Victorian centenarian to its original splendour, insuring that a part of London’s collective cultural heritage is preserved and appreciated by future generations.
Creating a compelling atmosphere is all-important. Originally gas flickering with fishtail burners would have made the cut glass sparkle and come to life, low and warm light levels alongside lots of mirrors, to bounce light around.
Its plan-form echo the best qualities of traditional townscape – vistas, enclosure, and surprise offering intriguing possibilities.
Evidently there were a large number of ‘Private' bars or snugs - as suggested by the pub’s nine or so doors to bars, these have long since been lost. It is Clark Architecture’s intention to reintroduce the brilliant cut acid etched glass screens that would have provided division between bars.
The Finest master crafts people and extraordinarily skilled specialists have been sourced and are ready to recreate the original interior, it will not only be spectacular, but also a place of pilgrimage for all who love the Victorian pub.
